Duluth East defeated Grand Rapids 4-3 in the Section 7AA high school boys hockey championship game Thursday night at Amsoil Arena, to advance to the Minnesota Class 2A state tournament for the fifth straight year and eighth time in the last 11 seasons.
Alex Toscano scored the game-winning goal for the Greyhounds, and teammate Phil Beaulieu had a goal and an assist.
Jack Kolar and Jack Forbort also scored for Duluth East.
Duluth East will face a yet-to-be-determined opponent in a state quarterfinal game Thursday.
