About the Miller-Dwan Foundation
The Miller-Dwan Foundation is the only independent, public medical foundation in the region, and, as a public charity, maintains a commitment to the health of the people of northeastern Minnesota, northwestern Wisconsin and northern Michigan.
As the area’s largest medical foundation, Miller-Dwan has provided more than $26 million in grant support to Essentia Health-Duluth (formerly Miller-Dwan Medical Center), Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center and more than 50 other regional nonprofit organizations that address community health concerns. In order to better address medical needs in its region, the Miller-Dwan Foundation created Amberwing, Solvay Hospice House, the Caring Ways Cancer Resource Center and the Abilities First Fund.
Since its inception in 1973, the Miller-Dwan Foundation has partnered with individuals, families, businesses and organizations, and together, is making this region a better place to live and work. The Foundation matches donor interests with local health care needs, and with unrestricted funds, it has the flexibility to respond to the changing face of health care.
