On Friday, over 100 students and staff from Harbor City International School will be at the Duluth Area Family YMCA to show the community that it’s easy and fun to be healthy.
The Duluth Area Family YMCA is partnering with the Harbor City International school students to challenge each student to contribute one hour of physical activity, the national guideline for healthy youth. From 3:30 p.m.-6 p.m. the students will take part in activities such as biking, swimming, climbing, Zumba and other organized sports.
This ‘flash mob’ of active youth is Harbor City’s way to demonstrate the importance of physical activity among youth and to show their support of the Duluth Y and the Strong Kids Campaign.
The Strong Kids Campaign is the Y’s annual support campaign to benefit the community through nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living, and fostering the sense of social responsibility. Harbor City International School directly benefits from the campaign, by allowing its students to have subsidized Y memberships, and to participate in Y programming.
