The University of Minnesota Duluth has announced its captains for the 2013-14 season, and a pair of right wingers are set to share the honor. Senior Joe Basaraba and junior Adam Krause will have the privilege of taking the reigns from Cody Danberg when the Bulldogs begin a quest for a second national title next winter.
Basaraba, a native of Fort Frances, Ontario, is one of four seniors slated to return for a final go-around at the collegiate level along with Tim Smith, Max Tardy and Aaron Crandall. The bruising 6-3 forward tallied 17 points (10 goals, seven assists) a year ago and has 38 points in 118 career games.A former standout at nearby Hermantown High School, Krause came away with four points on two goals and two assists last season. Krause stood second on the UMD charts with 78 penalty minutes in 2012-13 after spending the majority of the season in a checking-line role.
